Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

Small Electrical Appliances & Batteries

Since 1 July 2007, the UK’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations have helped to ensure that retailers of electrical equipment play their part in helping UK household users to dispose of electrical/electronic items when they reach the end of their life. If you do not recycle electrical items they will end up in landfill where hazardous substances will leak out and cause soil and water contamination- harming wildlife and also human health.

To remind you that old electrical equipment can be recycled, it is now marked with a crossed‐out wheeled bin symbol. Please do not throw any electrical equipment (including those marked with the crossed out wheeled bin symbol) in your bin.

As such, Palmers are pleased to offer all customers the option of returning, FREE of charge, any like for like household electrical item equivalent to the new item you are purchasing. You can also return waste batteries (excluding industrial or motor vehicle), when purchasing a battery item.

Please visit and drop off your old item at any of our stores. You will be required to present your order confirmation and a photo ID to demonstrate you have recently purchased a new like-for-like item. If returning old batteries no proof of new purchase is required and these can be deposited in the in-store battery recycling boxes.

This offer applies within 28 Days of purchasing a new item, and can only be used on a like-for-like basis. For example, when purchasing a Microwave, the return item would also need to be a microwave. All items being returned should be disconnected and unplugged. Should be securely packaged (if being collected), and will need to be clean, empty and any personal data removed.

Please note, that we reserve the right to refuse collection of any item that may constitute a health and Safety risk to our representative.
