Making Halloween Treats

Halloween gets bigger and better each year in the UK and it’s certainly a spooktastic event to celebrate whether you’re young or slightly older. Here are some scary and cool ideas for Halloween treats that the kids can get involved in too, along with some more ‘grown up’ options.

Coloured / Flavoured Ice Cubes

For a quick and simple effect, making flavoured and coloured ice cubes that will look great in drinks is an idea the kids will love.  Why not use a red cordial or fruit puree using raspberries, strawberries or other red fruit which will look like blood and give your children a fright.  You can make your ice cubes even scarier in this Mustard Shark Fin Ice Cube Tray for added Halloween excitement (£6.99), made from silicone both adults and kids will love seeing their fins bobbing up and down in their drink.

Monster Muffins

Children love decorating muffins and cupcakes and can let their imaginations go wild making monsters, ghouls and ghosts with sweets, coloured icing and sprinkles.   Get them involved from the start with this Gourmet Gadgetry Vintage Cupcake and Muffin Maker at £23.39 and they’ll have fun making the muffins too.

Why not try adding some red or green food colouring to your muffin mix and see their faces when you open the muffin maker for a fabulous spooky Halloween treat.

Halloween Punch

A blood-red punch is a perfect drink for any Halloween party, try cranberry juice and lemonade to give a ghoulish looking punch.  This Navigate Recycled Glass Effect Salad Bowl (£8.09) is ideal to double up as a punch bowl, a great size and made from sturdy plastic which is safer to use than glass but see-through to get the full effect of the Halloween punch. A great tip is to add some jelly gummy worms over the bowl to make it even yuckier!

If you want a grown up version for Halloween you can always add a slug or two of gin or vodka once the kids have gone to bed!

Homemade Halloween Treats

When the trick and treaters come knocking, how about making some scary Halloween mini treats using the Eddingtons Mini-Bake Baking Trays (12 Cups) at only £9.99.  Choose from round or square cups and then bake up a Halloween storm and let your imagination go wild, perfect for mini muffins and sweet treats.   Much better than shop bought sweets, you’ll be the talk of the neighbourhood and hopefully avoid those tricks with some homemade delicious treats.

Happy Halloween!
