Mother's Day Ideas

Mother’s Day is this Sunday the 10th of March so if you don’t already have the perfect gift for your mum, the pressure is on! In way of research for this article we asked our mums what they would most like from us this mother’s day (a really sneaky way of finding out exactly what they wanted this year!) We were provided with a wealth of mother’s day ideas which we will share with you but one aspect of the answers was unanimous – the most important gift you can give your mother on Mother’s Day is a little slice of your time. So with that in mind here are our top 10 ideas for Mother’s Day:

1. Take her out for a chatty walk in the park in the spring sunshine then drop into your favourite haunt for a cosy catch up over a hot coffee.

2. Spoil her with a beautiful vase but make it extra special by filling it with some handpicked Spring flowers – no extra cost to you but it will make all the difference to her.

3. Treat her to a succulent roast prepared, cooked and carved by you, and top it off with a homemade rhubarb and banana crumble or pavlova served in a bright dish.

4. If roasting isn’t your thing then try baking a cake – get creative for the decorating and serve on a fancy cake stand to give your mum an afternoon tea to remember!

5. Does she love her garden? Wax Lyrical and RHS have teamed together to create the classic gardens range – bring the scents of her garden into her home with these pretty candles and home fragrancers.

6. If your mum likes nothing more than a hot cuppa on a cold day, how about one of these fun tag line mugs by Jamie Oliver – tell her that to you she is the ‘Top Mum’ around or your ‘Best Mate’ and bring her a smile as she sips.

7. Treat her to a lovely bottle of bubbly (or red, white or rose) and give it to her in a fun wine bottle holder that will bring her joy after a hard day.

8. How are your beauty skills? What about treating your mum to a pampering session – give her a facial while you paint her nails in her favourite colour.

9. Everyone loves a rubber duck! We think our mums would love ‘Darling Duck’ to keep her company in the tub.

10. Write your mum a poem - if words are your forte, why not write your mum a cute little ditty, write it out on a piece of card and place it in a pretty frame for her to keep forever.

Whatever you do, make sure that you make the effort to see her, even if you go armed only with a hug and smile. If she’s further away than you can manage give her a phone call – whatever you do, make sure you remind her just how much she means to you.
