Keeping Warm This Winter
Our top tips to get your home ready for the chilly winter evenings
As the evenings grown cool and crisp in the early days of winter, November kicks off with a long-standing British tradition; Bonfire Night. But when the bonfires and fireworks are over, winter truly starts.
Here are our top tips for keeping you and your house warm this winter.
At this time of year we love nothing more than getting cosy under our lovely thick duvet – although this can be counter productive on cold winter mornings! However, there is nothing worse than dragging your sleepy head up to bed and climbing in between chilly sheets.
The best investment we have ever made was to purchase one of our fantastic Monogram Beurer Heated Throws. This item is a real investment as it is much more versatile than your standard electric blanket. This soft, fleecy throw can warm you up if you’re feeling the evening chill while relaxing in your living room, or you can pop it under your sheets to warm up your bed for a toasty nights sleep.
Even better, for the practical ones amongst you, it has 6 heat settings and a fast heat up time, an auto shut off after 3 hours and is fully machine washable and tumble dryable.
If you hate that winter draft that runs through your house when winter comes knocking, then you need to invest in some good quality curtains. These Curtina Belvedere Curtains have the perfect combination of thick, sturdy material and warming, winter chequered print.
The grey and plum colour scheme in check print evokes winter warmth by an open fire under old-fashioned blankets. The brushed heavyweight fabric can easily tackle the winter chill that sweeps through the house, which is particularly noticeable if you live in an old building.
These are a super easy fix to your draft problems as they are ready-made and with 5 different options you’re sure to find a size that suits your needs.
We explained in our recent blog post the importance of having the right tog duvet for the time of year. If you are finding it a little nippy at night, and an electric blanket is not your thing, then have a look at changing your duvet to a 13.5 tog rating.
We love this Fine Bedding Company Goose Feather & Down 13.5 Tog Duvet as it is not too heavyweight but will keep the warmth in all night long. Be warned, this can lead to that snooze button being hit one too many times in the morning, as it has been known to cause serious cosiness!comments powered by Disqus
